St George's Hill Golf Club is located in Weybridge, a town in England in the district of Elmbridge, in the South East region. Designed by Harry Colt in 1912 and carved from heather, Scots pine and rhododendrons, this very physical course includes three different 9-hole loops. Most club championships and major competitions are played on the “Red” and “Blue” courses. However, the "Green" now compares very favorably with the other two courses, moreover, many consider it the more difficult nine holes, due to its much narrower greens.
The Royal West Norfolk Golf Club is located in Brancaster, Norfolk, England, a few miles east of Hunstanton, between Brancaster Bay and the salt marshes. This 18-hole Links course opened in 1892.
With its 5900 meters and its par 71, the course is not particularly long but its location on the north Norfolk coast often subjects it to very windy conditions. Leaving the club house housing more than a century of golf, the golfer must cross part of the beach to reach the 1st tee. With its deep bunkers, elevated greens, salt marshes and sand dunes, the Royal West Norfolk offers a golf experience like no other.
Hindhead is a magnificent golf course set in a sumptuous pastoral setting and ranked among the best golf courses in Britain.
Originally designed by JH Taylor, the course meekly flows along natural terrain with fairways lined with beautiful heather and towering tall pines.
The best season to visit is early spring which brings with it additional pops of color from the rhododendrons and azaleas. With its elevated position, the back nine offers distant views of the beautiful Surrey countryside.
Founded in 1904 by a group of enthusiasts including Sir Arthur Conan-Doyle, the club has a rich history and continues to be enjoyed by members and guests. English-style conviviality is the order of the day in the period clubhouse, where one imagines that Sherlock Holmes, accompanied by his faithful doctor Watson, could arise at any moment in the middle of a discussion on a golf enigma!
Fine dining is also on the menu at Hindhead Golf Club. After a long day exploring the moors, you can enjoy refined traditional English cuisine accompanied by a comforting fragrant tea. While listening to the legendary tales of longtime club members, you can enjoy the comfort of a Chesterfield sofa.
Royal St George's, more than a century old, was ranked first in England, certainly for its incomparable beauty and technicality. Thus, since the 1880s, this prestigious seaside course, located in Sandwich in Kent, 7 km from Deal, has hosted a number of amateur and professional tournaments, including of course the British Open played for the first time here, outside of Scotland.
It is a links where the wind prevails constantly, with little water in play, without trees, but barely visible obstacles, deep bunkers and blind blows. The fairways go up and down, the huge greens are firm and fast, often undulating. Old-fashioned golf, traditional and steeped in history.
A shopping cart is recommended to more easily discover the many secrets. Stunning views over Pegwell Bay and the white chalk cliffs of Dover. James Bond creator Ian Fleming introduced him in his novel Goldfinger as "Royal St Mark".
Location and setting
Situated in the beautiful Cheshire countryside, 15 miles south of Manchester on the outskirts of Macclesfield, Prestbury Golf Club was founded in 1920 and has a course designed by Harry Colt, rated by Golf World and National Club Golfer among the 100 best in England.
Career
The course makes the most of the dramatic changes in elevation that the hilly terrain offers. The nature of the site, combined with the sandy subsoil, means that the course drains exceptionally well. Harry Colt, the architect who designed this course, saw it as imperative to work with the curves of nature and make the courses appear to be part of the existing landscape. This course thus makes the most of the dramatic changes in elevation offered by the undulating terrain. The nature of the site, coupled with the sandy subsoil, means that the course drains exceptionally well and, unlike many others in the region, it is almost never closed due to heavy rain.
History
It was in 1920 that the course was created, under the direction of Harry Colt. Harry Colt has been involved in the design of a select number of golf courses throughout the British Isles, including two Royal Open venues in the North West, in Liverpool and Lytham St Annes. The Prestbury Golf Club bears his architectural mark, combining nature and modernity.

Goswick Golf Club is located in Northumberland, midway between Edinburgh and Newcastle, just 5km from the A1. It is nestled among windswept dunes along a wide stretch of beautiful coastline; its natural beauty and the quality of its course rank it among the 50 best courses in England by National Club Golfer, but also among the 100 best links by GB&I.
Career
The Goswick course is a links type course, located on land of indisputable natural beauty, which lends itself particularly well to golf. Its length of 5996 to 6790 yards, par 72, makes it a real links course, with stunning views of the Northumberland coast, the Holy Island, and Bamburgh Castle. Exposed to the elements and combining complex doglegs, elevations and bunkers, the course promises a stimulating challenge for all audiences.
History
Goswick Golf Club has existed for more than 100 years: created in 1889, it is however difficult to attribute with certainty the paternity of the layout to a particular architect. It would seem that Willie Park Junior (1903), James Braid (1930) and Frank Pennink (1964) would all have helped shape Goswick's current course. As of 2023, a renovation of the first 9 holes of the course has been entrusted to Mackenzie & Ebert.

Career
The 18-hole course at Halifax Golf Club has remained faithful to its original design, without having been neglected. History
The Halifax Golf Club was founded in 1895, in Lightcliffe, on a 12-hole course. The club moved to its present course in 1902. An inaugural game in Sandy Herd and Harry Vardon was even held there.
We owe the 18-hole course to James Braid, who inaugurated it in 1906. In 1908, Herbert Fowler also intervened as an adviser on the development of the course; finally, it was Dr. Alister MacKenzie who made major changes to the Halifax course in 1912.

The St Austell Golf Club is located in Cornwall, 35 kilometers west of Plymouth, and a 45 minute drive from Falmouth. Its course designed by James Braid and its magnificent setting have attracted curious visitors and regulars for more than a hundred years.
Career
The St. Austell Golf Club course is an 18-hole, par-69 (6042-yard) park-style course. It presents a great difficulty with many obstacles and a wind that you have to know how to tame to reach the expected par.
History
St Austell Golf Club first came into existence in 1911. By 1913 the club had a 14 hole course in play and when in March 1914 Mr Arthur Roberts gave up his lease on the Tregongeeves lands in favor from the club, a full 18-hole course of approximately 4300 yards was quickly completed. In November 1925, the Club was able to seek the advice of five-time Open champion James Braid, a prolific course designer. Braid planned several new holes on the raw mine waste area to the south of the course, in which all natural hazards were used (today holes 13, 14, 15 and 16). He also suggested improvements to other holes where "every feature and inclination of the terrain, even the prevailing wind, was taken into account". It was not until 1936 that the course designed by Braid was opened.

For the Thurlestone Golf Club, Harry Colt knew how to draw us a course mixing links and high cliffs to sublimate the incredible beauty of Bigbury Bay. Located in the eponymous town, south-west of Kingsbridge, it is easily accessible to anyone wishing to enjoy the Devon coastline. From the holes looking west, you will have the opportunity to observe the Avon Estuary, Bantham Beach and finally Burgh Island. A magnificent 18-hole course that it would be a shame to miss.
Career
The scenery you will see while playing the 18-hole course at Thurtlestone Golf Club is undoubtedly a highlight of the club: the views over the coves and the sea will take your breath away more than once, but don't let the natural beauty of the site will make you forget your game, because the course of 6472 yards by 71 is rather demanding! Like the golf courses located on the coast, the Thurtlestone is subject to the vagaries of the wind, which adds a sometimes high level of difficulty to the course. This difficulty is compensated by a balanced course, with wide and generous fairways, and its first twelve holes will seem like a walk in the park if the wind is on your side.
History
Thurtlestone Golf Club opened in 1897, and at the time had a course in Kingsbridge. A 9-hole course had been built there, as well as other facilities, including tennis courts and driving ranges. While the original course was designed by Charles Gibson, JH Taylor was entrusted with the redesign of the course when more land was acquired by the club. In 1912, an 18-hole course was inaugurated; however, as early as 1928 Harry Colt was asked to make improvements, as the club had acquired yet more land and wanted to reshape the course to accommodate this extra space. The club's expansion didn't stop there; in the 60s and 70s the course was again redesigned, and Hawtree & Sons were contracted to oversee it, until it opened in 1972. To date, the course has had its last overhaul in 1994, by architect Donald Steel.

Location and setting
Although Mill Hill is located easily accessible from the M1, this club seems lost in the middle of the English countryside when you find yourself on the course. It is a perfect place to relax for a getaway, but also to take on a fun and stimulating golf challenge.
Career
The 18-hole course at Mill Hill is a perfect example of park-style golf, surrounded by beautiful forest and featuring balanced long and short holes, wide fairways and few bunkers. It measures 6247 yards, by 70; the Mill Hill course can prove a bit taxing for novices, despite its apparent ease, especially because of the blind shots to overcome, but which provide a lot of satisfaction to conquer.
History
Since its founding in 1923, Mill Hill Golf Club has come a long way. Its course was initially traced on the same date by the architect JF Abercrombie. The famous architect behind Worplesdon, Coombe Hill and Addington made his skills available to the Mill Hill club to create an 18-hole course. The initial route, however, underwent modifications due to the ravages of war, then later, in order to build a major highway. At that time, it was S. Cotton who had the responsibility of advising the course redesign project. Since then, there have been few changes to report on the Mill Hill course.

Five miles from Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, Centurion Park Golf Club offers great views and challenging play for golfers of all abilities. Well-maintained fairways and greens make Centurion Park Golf Club challenging but friendly, and the staff can offer tips and tricks to play your best course. Centurion Park Golf Club is a great choice for your regular rounds of golf or a new destination for you and your friends when visiting Newcastle-Upon-Tyne.
Career
The 18-hole course at Centurion Park has many interesting holes: from the first, a solid drive to the left of the fairway bunkers, allows a medium iron to be played towards the green, protected by bunkers to the front, left and to the right. The burn runs along the left side of the fairway, where beyond the trees you are out of bounds. This is followed by a set of challenges, with solid par 4s where you have to be careful with the drive to avoid bunkers hidden from the tee, good drives at the top of the hill and a long par 3 where the green is protected by a bunker to the front right and an out of bounds fence to the rear. The 5th and 6th holes feature a certain technicality, with a dog leg to the right with the bunkers on the right corner and a drive on the left side of the fairway which leaves a long iron to the green, protected by a bunker on each side. The last hole is a Par 3 usually in a strong wind. It is a two-tiered green with the pond merging to the left and an out of bounds barrier along the left of the fairway.

The Frinton Golf Club is renowned for the quality of its golf courses and its friendly welcome to visitors. Built in 1895, Frinton Clubhouse is among the oldest golf clubs built in England. Its location by the sea allows it to offer breathtaking landscapes to its visitors and members.
Career
The Frinton courses are excellent challenges for golfers. The Havers in particular is a rather short (6 yard) seaside course whose open, treeless fairways may seem unchallenging, but in reality this is not the case. Fast, firm and undulating greens put the best putters to the test. The tidal ditches cross many fairways and demand well-placed shots. The hallmark of golf courses, the ever-changing sea breeze, demands careful club selection on every hole.
History
Frinton Golf Club was founded in 1895. Originally based on a nine-hole course designed by Tom Dunn, on land now occupied by houses on Second and Third Avenue. In 1904, two-time Open champion Willie Park Junior designed a new 18-hole course on the current site, an area once famous for hare hunting. On the advice of renowned golf course architect Harry Colt, various improvements were made to the original design, leaving the course as we know it today.
In its recent history, Frinton has been at the forefront of change being one of the first to embrace full gender equality among its members, as well as being the first golf club in Essex to Obtain England Golf's prestigious Golf Mark award - demonstrating that Frinton Golf Club is indeed fit for purpose and a club for all ages!

Crowborough Beacon Golf Club was founded in 1895. Set in moorland, the club enjoys a unique position on one of the highest points in Sussex, with sea views for up to 35 kilometres. The design of the course was influenced by two legendary architects: Harry S. Colt and Dr. Alister Mackenzie.
Career
The first thing that will strike the golfer who comes to Crowborough is the magnificent view, over a large expanse of rolling, wooded country. The course is over a large expanse of heather, interrupted here and there by gullies and gullies, with the occasional stream at the bottom. The terrain drops here and there quite steeply, resulting in some thin, bold and scenic shots from the high tees. The course also requires precise shots to overcome, which will satisfy experienced players.
History
The architect Alister Mackenzie is at the origin of this course, created in 1895. One easily finds on the course the distinctive imprint of the master; indeed, more than a century after its inception, Crowborough Beacon has changed little and remains a quality golf course in a stunning location. Many famous people have played there through the ages. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle thus left Hindhead to become captain of Crowborough in 1910.

If you go to the Fulford Golf Club, you will certainly hear about a particular tree: a large ash tree from whose branches Bernhard Langer hit his approach shot on the 17th hole in the branches of a large ash tree. The opportunity to take a selfie in front of the commemorative plaque which celebrates this professional golf feat!

The terrain is undulating, with good drainage which makes the course playable all year round, and its fairways are more like a links type golf course, with fast rolling surfaces in the summer. It is rare for temporary greens to be in play during the winter months, and every effort is made to ensure play takes place on the appropriate greens. One of the strengths of the course is its greens, which are fast and undulating, making putting a real challenge. The Barton-on-Sea Golf Club, founded in 1897, is located in England, on the coastal cliff between Highcliffe and Milford-on-Sea. Its 27-hole course provides a good challenge for golfers of all levels, with the added bonus of being able to choose from three 18-hole combinations with unrivaled sea views at every hole.
Career
The club offers several courses: the first two courses (Becton and Needles) combine to form an 18-hole course, measuring 6 yards from the back tees. The Becton's holes 447 through 1, as well as the Needles' holes 9 and 1, were laid out by Stutt, with the Needles' holes 9 through 2 attributed to Colt's design. The best of the Becton Circuit holes is considered the 8-yard 2nd, where a pretty little stream runs along the right side of the fairway, while Needles' best hole is guarded to the last, the par-three 363th, which is played to an island-shaped green. The club's third circuit is the Stroller. It is slightly shorter, but with holes 9, 4 and 5 (and part of hole 6) attributed to Harry Colt, Stroller is in no way inferior to the loops of Becton and Needles. We therefore recommend that you play all three courses to fully appreciate the Barton-on-Sea experience.
History
Golf was first played at Barton-on-Sea Golf Club in 1897 on a 9-hole course located on the cliff to the west of the current course. A group of local golfers led by Sir Robert Affleck obtained permission to play on the hotel course and hold a few competitions, and a club was formed. This course remained in service until 1909. In 1910, the architect Harry Vardon made modifications to the course, before the intervention in 1932 of Harry Colt. The current 27 holes of the course are a combination of the original Harry Colt plan from 1932 and newer holes designed by renowned J. Hamilton Stutt, a founding member of the Association of British Golf Course Architects, which were completed in 1992.
Prices
Green Fees at Barton-on-Sea are £80 for 18 holes on weekdays, and £90 for 18 holes on weekends and bank holidays.

The Duke's Course is 6 meters long and consists of fairways bordered by pine, birch and chestnut trees. Heather, ferns and gorse add to the charm of the course, while creating natural obstacles at each hole.
It has been the venue of the British Masters for 20 years, and has hosted the British Open Women's Championship and, more recently, the Travis Perkins Masters.
MARQUESS 'COURSE
This "Marquess" course, course of the Marquis, in honor of the Marquis Tavistock, was designed by Peter Alliss and Clive Clark in 1999, it was quickly designated "Jewel in the Crown".
Set in 200 hectares of mixed forest it straddles the county border of 'Bedfordshire' and divides 'Buckinghamshire'. This hilly, sometimes hilly course is home to rare trees such as Laricio pine, yew, rowan or beech. The landscapes are magnificent, and certainly deserve a glance.

East Berkshire is a golf club located in Crowthorne, just over an hour from central London by car via the M4. Its course mixes park and heath, and has many natural waterways flowing over the land to guard the greens.
Career
The East Berkshire Golf Club course has 18 holes par 69, spread over 6236 yards. Designed by Peter Paxton, it has beautiful natural obstacles and cleverly requires doglegs. Although it is over 6200 yards long, the course is shorter than it looks; add to that the undulating and fast greens, and you have a real challenge not only for the players' hitting ability, but also for their discipline and course strategy, as competitors in the annual East Berks Stag will testify. Shaped fairways that open out into well-defined semi-rough terrain help identify driving zones and carefully placed obstacles on the greens ensure that lost shots will not be rewarded.

When it comes to golf in the British Isles, Ireland and Scotland will undoubtedly always take the top spot when it comes to links-type courses. However England is rich in diversity with wooded routes, Links and “Parklands”. You have to start with the great triad of Berkshire, Sunningdale and Wentworth outside London, to the west and to the south. But the “W” courses, including West Hill, Woking and Worplesdon, are equally renowned and offer the same quality of play and the same authenticity. The hundred-year-old Berkshire and Surrey are exceptional symbols of the English courses created by legendary architects.
