Nestled in the heart of the countryside, in the beautiful park of Sutton, which is a national nature reserve and one of the largest urban parks in Europe, is the Sutton Coldfield Golf Club. It is home to a moorland course, a short drive from Birmingham.
Two 18-hole courses can be played at the Sutton. The first 18-hole course, par 72, extends over 6203 meters. This fast-draining moorland course fully deserves its place among England's top 100 courses. Firm, tight fairways flow into greens in excellent condition, providing an excellent challenge for able-bodied and non-handicapped golfers all year round. The second (called Blue Course or Winter Course) is a measured and short alternative course. The blue course offers an interesting and different angle/perspective for the majority of tee shots and includes the use of two relief holes.
The Club was founded in 1889 and originally had a nine-hole course laid out at the Town Gate in Sutton Park. In 1890 the club moved to its present location near the Streetly gate to the park. In 1893, 18 holes were laid out and a Clubhouse was built a few years later on a freehold site outside the park boundaries, opposite the first tee.
The amount of Green Fees applied to visitors (not invited by members) is £80 for the 18-hole course. This tariff is unified for all days, hours, and seasons.
The club opens its doors from 11 a.m. to 19 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday; 11 a.m. to 18 p.m. Wednesday; 11 a.m. to 20 p.m. on Friday; and 11 a.m. to 16 p.m. on Sundays.
