The Shirley Golf Club is one of the best golf courses in the West Midlands: located south of Birmingham, in the Blythe Valley, this club has a mixture of moorland and wooded grounds. The course is surrounded by farmland and natural forests.
The Shirley Golf Club's 18-hole course measures approximately 6 yards, offering great country charm as well as a real challenge for seasoned golfers. Many fairways are flanked by tall trees, and stretches of water complicate the game. In short, the course of the Shirley has what it takes to test its abilities in an idyllic setting.
The Shirley Golf Club was founded in 1955 under special circumstances: indeed, its creators had been refused golf clubs because they were of the Jewish faith. Golf clubs of the time often held a quota, and some secretly had a zero quota of Jewish members.
For this reason, the founders of the Shirley Golf Club wanted to build a golf club that would welcome all golfers without discrimination. Even today, the Shirley Golf Club is committed to fighting against prejudice and regularly organizes charitable works, in particular for underprivileged children and for children with disabilities.
Green Fees are set at £50 during the summer on weekdays. On weekends the Green Fee is £60. In winter, Green Fees are £30 weekdays and £40 weekends.
The club is open from 8 a.m. to 18 p.m. on weekdays, and from 9 a.m. to 17 p.m. on weekends.
