Situated in the beautiful Cheshire countryside, 15 miles south of Manchester on the outskirts of Macclesfield, Prestbury Golf Club was founded in 1920 and has a course designed by Harry Colt, rated by Golf World and National Club Golfer among the 100 best in England.
The course makes the most of the dramatic changes in elevation that the hilly terrain offers. The nature of the site, combined with the sandy subsoil, means that the course drains exceptionally well. Harry Colt, the architect who designed this course, saw it as imperative to work with the curves of nature and make the courses appear to be part of the existing landscape. This course thus makes the most of the dramatic changes in elevation offered by the undulating terrain. The nature of the site, coupled with the sandy subsoil, means that the course drains exceptionally well and, unlike many others in the region, it is almost never closed due to heavy rain.
It was in 1920 that the course was created, under the direction of Harry Colt. Harry Colt has been involved in the design of a select number of golf courses throughout the British Isles, including two Royal Open venues in the North West, in Liverpool and Lytham St Annes. The Prestbury Golf Club bears his architectural mark, combining nature and modernity.
The Greens Fees are not displayed for the moment, the course being under renovation and not welcoming visitors.
The Club is open from 8 a.m. to 21 p.m., every day of the week.
