Portmarnock Golf Club is a masterpiece ranked in the top 5 of the best courses in Ireland, very close to Dublin.
It offers a classic links course, straightforward and authentic. It is located on a peninsula that has many natural water hazards. Very exposed to the wind, it consists of three loops of nine holes. The plateau greens are large and fast and the rough is often very high. Beautiful views of the sea and Dublin.
No other Irish course has been graced by so many renowned players in a history rich in important events. It was there that Arnold Palmer and Sam Snead won the 1960 Canada Cup. And it was there that another generation of Americans, including Phil Mickelson and David Duval, notched a memorable victory in the Walker Cup in 1991. These events, as well as the 19 rounds of the Irish Open Championship of the European Tour, reflect the quality of this 27-hole course.
