The Valderrama Golf Par 71 Championship Course measures 6356 meters from the Back-Tees. History
The course was designed in 1974 by Robert Trent Jones, Sr, one of the great architects of golf, and was originally known as Sotogrande New. In 1981, its name was changed to Las Aves. Eventually, Ortiz-Patiño renamed the land Valderrama, in reference to the old estate on which the land is located.
Host of prestigious competitions
In September 1997, Real Club Valderrama was the first venue in continental Europe to host the Ryder Cup. The European team, with its captain, the legendary Severiano Ballesteros had won against the Americans 14 ½ - 13 ½. It was the first of six consecutive victories for the team on European soil, a series which continues after the last success in France at the Golf National in 2018. In addition, the golf of Valderrama has traditionally played host to the former Volvo Masters, from 1988 to 2008.

History
Sant Cugat Golf Club was founded in 1914 by Barcelona Traction & Light Power; who built the railway that still connects the city to Plaza Catalunya and downtown Barcelona today, it takes 25 minutes.
In the early years, its name was "New Barcelona Golf Club". The club is steeped in history, Seve Ballesteros made his professional debut there in March 1974, in 1979 Jose Maria Olazabal won his first Spanish junior championship and in 1997 when Sergio Garcia won the Catalonia Open while 'he was still an amateur.
