The Cheshire region has a large number of high quality moorland courses. An example of this is Sandiway, a lovely woodland and heather course, and rightly considered one of the best indoor courses in the north of England. The Sandiway Golf Club course attracts with the elegance of its tree-lined fairways and numerous doglegs.
The 18-hole Sandiway course is considered to be a severe challenge. The course is highly respected in the golfing world and has hosted several county championships and EGU events. Sandiway also served as a qualifier for The Open Championship in 1969.
The history of Sandiway Golf Club dates back to 1920, when Ted Ray, the 1912 Open champion, was commissioned to design a course that was to remain in harmony with the course. Ray made fantastic use of the contours of the course and in 1925 Harry Colt made further improvements before Fred Hawtree moved three holes in 1955 to form the course we know today.
For adults, Green Fees are £85 in winter and £100 in summer. Children can access the course for green fees of £30.
