Location and setting
The Liphook is a traditional yet progressive golf club with one of the best courses in the country. Opened in 1922, the course was quickly recognized by the R&A as a prime example of inland moorland and is also an early example of strategic design for golf courses. Liphook is currently ranked 55th in the UK in the Golf Monthly Top 100.
Career
The Liphook course measures 6523 yards from the championship tees and 6317 yards from the medal tees. The course has four par 4 holes of over 400 yards and four par 5s. Its tight fairways, bordered by an abundance of heather, gorse and trees, demand great precision, but its greatest defense are its greens. , real and fast, with subtle breaks and borrowings. They are among the best in the south of England. Well maintained throughout the year, the course retains its moorland character with fast fairways and greens.
History
The Liphook Golf Club was founded in 1921. The first nine holes of the course, located on the north side of Portsmouth Road, opened for play on September 2, 1922 and the full 18 holes on June 15, 1923.

The club's course was designed by Arthur Croome in 1922 and completed after his early death by his partner Tom Simpson. Both were proponents of the "strategic" school of course design as opposed to the "criminal" school of course design, meaning the golfer is rewarded for course strategy rather than long shots. In 2020, five new holes redesigned by Tom McKenzie were opened for play. These new holes stayed true to the original design philosophy, but improved the layout and greatly increased the strategic challenge for players of all skill levels.

The club is open from 7:30 a.m. to 18 p.m. The winter season (November 1 to February 18) is exclusively for members.
