The Pinhal Golf Course is located in Vilamoura, Portugal. Opened to the public in 1976 it owes its fame to the architect Frank Pennink who also created the Old Course Golf Club and to Robert Trent Jones Sr. who made significant improvements in 1985.
Crossing a hilly park, several fairways are bordered by pine trees. However, an even bigger challenge is undoubtedly caused by the umbrella pines and Atlantic pines which present themselves on the fairways and for the attack of the greens. The length has recently been increased on a number of holes, ensuring that the test originally envisioned by Pennink is met. With a significant length of 6 meters from the white tees and a par of 353, the Pinhal Golf Course is a demanding golf course. Golfers, however, will be happy to learn that the ponds and stream that come into play on five holes, for the most part, should not present a serious threat.
One of the most remarkable features of the Pinhal Golf Course is the breathtaking panorama offered from the clubhouse, which extends over the superb driving range and training facilities. Completely renovated, its veranda offers the perfect setting for relaxation after the course.
