Golf course Ailsa Course - Open Championship Venue

Named after the third Marquis of Ailsa who owned the course, the Aisla Course is a stunning championship course set along the Ayrshire coast with the islands of Arran and Aisla Craig as a backdrop. . Created in 1902 by architect Willie Fernie, the course was then renovated in 2016 by Martin Ebert by modifying some greens to offer a spectacular challenge that takes full advantage of its surroundings. The course was then ranked second best golf course in the UK and Ireland by Golf Monthly, behind King Robert The Bruce course.

Ailsa features a varied hole combination over 6594 yards with the first three challenging holes heading for shore to the eleventh hole with dunes and boulders lining the fairways. The last holes are just as demanding with wavy fairways and well protected greens. The Ailsa Course therefore offers a challenge to the best golfers and has hosted the British Open 4 times between 1977 and 2009.

King Robert the Bruce Course

Set in the unexplored peninsula of Kintyre along the rugged Atlantic coast, the King Robert the Bruce course offers a spectacular new golf experience. Designed by Mackenzie Ross in 1909 as The Kintyre Course, the course was then remodeled by Donald Steel in 1999 and then by Martin Ebert who renamed it in honor of the King of Scotland Robert the Bruce, ruler who claimed the independence of Scotland during the battle of 1314.

Traditional links type, the course presents well-defined fairways, undulating greens and holes along the ocean, protected by deep and severe bunkers. Even more elevated than the Ailsa, the course offers a breathtaking panorama of the ocean, the islands of Kintyre and Arran, the Turnberry lighthouse and above all, the ruins of King Robert the Bruce's castle. This world-class experience will delight golfers of all levels with a difficult challenge and a fantastic panorama.

Arran Course golf course

Finally, the Arran course completes Turnberry's offer with a 9-hole course which brings together the different characteristics of the 2 championship courses. Undulating greens, tight starts, bunkers and thick Scottish roughs are reminiscent of the links of Ailsa and King Robert The Bruce. The Arran course allows beginners to learn about links golf and time-pressed players to enjoy a stimulating but quick game of golf.

Training infrastructure

To complete the facilities at Turnberry, a driving range, a compact course and a putting green area are at your disposal. A golf academy also offers lessons taught by qualified PGA professionals, with cutting-edge technological tools to accompany the teachings of the teachers.
