Gailes Links Golf Course on the Ayrshire coast, created by Open champion Willie Fernie in 1892 and then remodeled by Willie Park Jnr, another (double) Open champion, in 1912, belongs to the Glasgow Golf Club founded in 1787, 9th oldest golf club in the world. It is a perfectly maintained golf course.
It has hosted many prestigious events over the years and is regularly selected for the final qualifiers of the Open. Thus, in 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017, it is the only Scottish course designated by the authorities of the Royal & Ancient to accommodate these qualifications.
It is an excellent traditional links course with rolling fairways and quality greens offering a very good challenge for good and less experienced golfers. It is very close to Royal Troon, Prestwick or Dundonald and 40 minutes from Turnberry.
