Designed by famous architect Robert Trent Jones Jr, (a famous American architect who, since 1960 to date, has created or remodeled more than 250 golf courses around the world) the 18 hole course of Golf Alcanada opened in 2003. It is located in the northern part of the Mediterranean island of Mallorca, by the sea.
Its 6499 meters of greens and fairways blend naturally into the typical Majorcan landscape. The club takes its name from a nearby island close to the coast which, with its own lighthouse, is visible from most holes. Besides the splendid view of the sea, players are surrounded by pine trees and olive trees throughout their course and, although this is a young course, Alcanada is already recognized by several magazines and golf guides. renowned as one of the best courses in Spain and Europe - it was notably named the best course in Europe by the main German magazine "Golf Journal" for the fourth consecutive year in 2012.
