Description

Le 2020 Masters  will not take place like every year from April 9 to 12 on the course of theAugusta National Golf Club, in the United States, in Georgia. The 84e edition why prestigious tournament (Premier of the season of the 4 Grand Slam tournaments) promises to be exciting. Due to the Coronavirus this edition will take place from 10 TO 15 NOVEMBER 2020.

Tiger woods will defend his title

Tiger Woods, who put on his fifth green jacket last year will try to defend his title. We remember the strong emotion of the American champion during the 2019 edition. Dressed in his iconic red polo shirt, he let his joy burst like never before, in front of his two children, his mother and his companion. At the end of an exceptional duel on the last lap against Francesco Molinari Tiger signed his 81st professional victory. He thus offered himself his 15th Grand Slam title. The Tiger is now only three lengths from the record of the legendary Jack Nicklaus who has 18 Grand Slam victories. He will have rightly and like every year many supporters.

A historic tournament in the United States in Georgia

Unlike the three other major tournaments of the season (the British Open, the US PGA and the US Open), the Masters takes place each year at the same location, on the Augusta National Golf Course. Traditionally contested the second week of April, it is the first important meeting for the players of the circuit.

Created in 1934, the Masters Tournament - as purists like to call it - is steeped in history and features several traditions. Indeed, the winner of the Masters is given the very symbolic "green jacket" which he must keep until the next edition before giving it to his successor.

Great Jack Nicklaus, famous player of the 1970s, is the record holder for the number of victories in Augusta. he thus has 6 green jackets to his credit. He is ahead Arnold palmer et Tiger Woods, who have both won the tournament 4 times.

In addition to being historic, the Masters is special for players. In the sense that it is possible to participate only by invitation of the Augusta National Golf Club. Likewise, the lucky few spectators are often the same over the years (family of players, guests or personalities).

No ticket office is organized, which creates a secondary market that is almost inaccessible to the general public. As you will have understood, the Masters is a unique event, steeped in history and riches, not to be missed under any circumstances.

An exceptional manicured and selective course

On planet Golf, the start of the Masters coincides with the arrival of spring. It is also what makes the charm of the national course of Augusta. Between perfectly mowed lawns, lush green greens and sumptuous water points, the players would have something to be disturbed by the beauty of the landscape.

The incredible density of the different species of trees present on the course is unique in the United States. Add to it the spring flowering at tournament time and you have a true natural masterpiece. Another particularity of the site, it used to correspond to a nursery.

Each of the 18 holes now bears the name of the tree or shrub to which it has been associated. Until 2014, the great venerable tree at hole 17 even bore the name of the former president Eisenhower, member of the National Golf Club and a regular on the course.

The meeting place for the world of golf and its champions

As in tennis, the golf season includes 4 Grand Slam tournaments. Three of them are played in the United States (Masters, US PGA and US Open). As for the British Open, it is itinerant in Great Britain and takes place regularly on the legendary course of St Andrews, in Scotland. Among these four major tournaments, the masters meeting is undoubtedly the most prestigious. Any great champion must wear the green jacket at least once during his career. So ask Tiger Woods who built part of his legend in Augusta.

The world top will be together on the green from April 9 with the ambition of winning this Masters 2020.

  • Phil Mickelson (3 Masters victories)
  • Bubba watson (2 wins)
  • Jordan Spieth (youngest winner) and Justin Rose will battle for four days with Dustin Johnson, Rory McIlroy and other Jason Day.
  • Surprising winner two years ago, the Englishman Patrick Reed will try to thwart the forecasts by repeating his feat of 2018.
  • Tiger will have a lot to face his compatriots Brooks Koepka the world number 1 or Bryson DeChambeau, who will also aim for victory.
Will it all be played on Amen Corner?

If the Augusta Masters is renowned for its hole number 18 and its climb to the Club-House, it is also famous for its Amen Corner. Indeed, this is the name given to the 3 holes known to be the most difficult on the course (11, 12, 13), constituting one of the most complicated sequences to tackle on the PGA circuit. Many have broken their teeth on this succession of difficulties. Indeed, it is very often in this strategic area that the final victory takes shape.

Amen Corner has no mercy, it leaves no chance and devours the most inexperienced players. It represents the site of the toughest battles fought in the world of golf. Especially on the last day when the leaders of the standings are standing a few strokes away. We remember the monumental duel delivered by the young Jordan Spieth and Mickelson in 2015.
