An innovative and ambitious program for French golf

It is, however, in this spirit that the French Golf Federation has decided to invest heavily over the next few years in dedicated high performance infrastructure: 4,5 million euros will be devoted to the implementation of an ambitious construction program, focused on training and 'coaching. "We must offer optimal learning conditions to our players from the French teams, but also to professional golfers who can find the opportunity to train in excellent conditions", explains Pascal Grizot, vice-president in charge of sports policy at the FFGolf.

A centralization effort 

Formerly scattered within seven training centers spread across the country, the young hopefuls of French golf will now be brought together in the coming years within two centers of excellence which meet the requirements of high-level training. A first in the south of the country, already operational, at the academy of Terre Blanche golf course nearly Fayence Yes, a second at National Golf of Saint-Quentin en Yvelines, which will be fully ready in September 2021, after a period of major works that has already started. “The total investment of € 4,5 million is made by the FFG and its partners, specifies Christophe Muniesa, Managing Director. The region Ile-de-France first, then the department of Yvelines and Saint-Quentin, and finally the Ministry of Sports. We are at 65% subsidy rate. ”

Cornerstone of this program: the high performance center of National GolfLed by Edouard Brechignac, aims to install a unity of place for the champions of tomorrow. At the end of the construction of the building which will be able to accommodate 24 people (girls and boys, staff) at the next school year - the work of which begins at the end of October and ends next summer -, this training center will concentrate the structure of 'accommodation, the training stadium and school teaching premises (private college and high school, out of contract). “As a trainer,” notes the site manager, “it is a tool that we have dreamed of for a long time for our young golfers. "  

A work area for golf that is unique in Europe

Symbol of the step forward in terms of training: the new training stadium dedicated to the game, this exercise which for professionals and amateurs alike allows to score and make the difference. “A work area like this is unique in Europe,” said Pascal Grizot at his inauguration, in the presence of Valérie Pécresse, president of the Ile-de-France region. An investment of € 1,3 million for almost six months of work. "Building a good green or a bad green can cost the same price", smiles Grizot, when he talks about the choice of the architect. A budget of 4,5 million euros

This area covers 5 ha of right-of-way, 18 m² of remodeled parts, and has five greens, eight bunkers, six artificial line starts, four artificial circular starts, three natural starts and a driving platform. To the delight of its young beneficiaries, such as Mila, Justine, Deborah and Laura, four golfers aged 000 to 12 who crossed paths on the day of the inauguration, and who were training on the premises for the third time already. “It's incredible, it's the best ground we can have,” one of them rejoiced. “We can play in all positions, we have plenty of possibilities for the fairway, it's perfect. […] It is very well maintained. It's impressive, ”replies another.

The entire Performance Center project represents a budget of 4,5 million euros, supported over 60% by grants from the Region, the Department, SQY, the Ministry of Sports and the National Sports Agency, the rest being financed from the Federation's own funds. A project "unique in Europe", assures Pascal Grizot.
