British Open 2019British Open Trophy

This year  British Open come back to Ireland. A comeback that we have been waiting for since 1860. Indeed, the oldest golf tournament in the world once again crosses the Irish Sea 70 years later. The best players in the world will compete on the legendary course of the Royal portrush.

With more than 200 entrance tickets sold for this 000th edition, The Open 148 will be sold out.

The Royal Portrush route

The Royal Portrush course is a par 72 which is located on the North Coast of Northern Ireland, close to the Giant's Causeway. It is a links type course which requires a lot of creativity and technique from golfers. The British Open will take place on the Dunluce Links, the most technical and the most prestigious of the two Royal Portrush courses.

The face-offs will require a lot of precision on the many long par 4s with narrow fairways nestled in bunkers and bordered by high roughs. The second shots will require good handling of the ball to play against and with the wind to touch narrow greens well defended by these formidable and deep Scottish bunkers. Hole number 16 is the signature hole of this Dunluce Links course, a huge par 3 of 200 meters where you have to pass a ravine to reach the green. This justice of the peace hole is named after "Calamity Corner" and may well have many surprises in store for us.

The course record is still held by Rory McIlroy, author of an incredible score card of 61 when he was only 16 ... He will aim this year to clinch his fifth Major title.

Rory Favorite?McIlroy-Rory

The Northern Irishman will play at home for this 148th edition and moreover he holds the course record. He is currently at his best with two titles won on the PGA Tour, the former world number one has made this edition his priority of the year and he is perfectly prepared. He will not be alone, however. It will obviously be necessary to rely on Tiger Woods, back at the highest level and in search of a sixteenth Major tournament. But also on the world number 1 Brooks Koepka  (four Grand Slam titles in two years).

Our Tricolors

Four French people will also be at the rendezvous since Romain Langasque, qualified thanks to his second place in South Africa last December, will accompany Alexander levy, in the field after his excellent results on the European Tour in 2018,  Michael Lorenzo-Vera, second in Spain last week. And the very last minute qualification of Benjamin hebert thanks to its second place in the Scottish Open.
