At the time of its inception, the Victoria Golf Course was hailed as the most ambitious golf project Portugal has ever seen. Designed by a true golfing legend, Arnold Palmer, there is no doubt that it has lived up to this noble reputation.
Covering an area of 90 hectares, the site includes one of the most complete golf complexes in Europe, and has an exceptional driving range and a putting green of some 2 m500. All of this has made it the preferred location for many of the top international tournaments that have been held in Portugal in recent times. Indeed, it has hosted the Portugal Masters each time since 2, while the World Cup Championship was held there in 2007.
The layout of this Par 72 championship course spreads its fairways over a length of 6,651 meters from the Back tees. Palmer respected the natural areas of the site, as well as the typical vegetation of carob, olive and almond trees. A significant part of the area of the Dom Pedro Victoria Golf Course is occupied by lakes, which constitute dangers to be avoided but which also have a strategic purpose in providing reservoirs for irrigation.
A number of teeing areas on each hole (often up to six are offered), accompanied by wide and undulating fairways, allow you to test your golf. Cleverly positioned water obstacles and bunkers are a constant threat and offer a real golfing challenge.
The Victoria Golf Course has quickly become one of the best golf courses in Portugal, with a layout that presents a real challenge for even the most experienced players.
