Speed Golf, this compromise between racing and golf

Speed Golf

The association of the two disciplines may seem disconcerting or even contradictory. Golf is indeed a sport of precision, which consists in sending a ball into a hole with clubs in a minimum of strokes. This sport requires both great concentration and endurance because the course has 18 holes. The race is the opposite. You have to go quickly from one point to another. So that's the whole paradox of speed golf, a discipline born in California at the end of the 70s.

A first French championship

The first French tournament of Speed Golf just took place on 25 and  May 26 in Chamonix. The first French champion in this discipline is Jérémie Felenc, Cagnois and golf teacher near Grasse. He arrived second in the general classification in 57 minutes 36 seconds, 3 minutes 20 seconds behind the Finnish Mikko Rantanen.

He has been practicing this sport for 15 years and one day discovers this practice on the internet. A practice with which he fell head over heels in love and which dusted off the image of a sport supposed to be reserved for seniors.

“It reminds me of triathlon and that's why I like Speed Golf. "

Jeremy Felenc has been training hard.

No question of taking time. The course includes 18 holes and is carried out on average in 1 hour instead of 4 hours.

It's less mental and more fun. We just gotta be focused on exercise and running

The bag contains far fewer clubs so golfers can gallop faster. The small carts are left in the garage and the sport is invigorating.
No time to think, you have to run!
