The Benamor golf course was born in 1986 on the grounds of the Quinta de Benamor, in Tavira, in the Algarve. The Martins Dias family, owners of the course, invited the famous Sir Henry Cotton to realize this magnificent 18-hole golf course. Sir Henry Cotton was inspired by the magnificent old church in the heart of this land to express his talent as an architect and traced the course around it.
Benamor's journey
The end result is a charming Par 71 golf course of 5.500 meters (6.100 yards), which offers an enjoyable playing experience for players of all skill levels. The course is hilly without being too steep; it is quite playable on foot. The views of the mountains to the north and the Atlantic Ocean to the south are breathtaking. The olive trees, corks, carob trees, fig trees and almond trees of the region, line the fairways harmoniously. A few water hazards and bunkers are strategically placed to spice up the course. The greens are simply superb.
