It was in 1857 that the Burt and Packard Shoe Company was established in Brockton, Massachusetts, to later become the Field and Flint Company. Very quickly the brand was spotted by golf professionals and it became the official shoe of the American Ryder Cup team led by captain Walter Hagen.
