These activities are currently deployed on pilot sites in France and will be generalized to all 49 golf courses in the network.

In 2011, Bluegreen, born from the merger of Formula Golf and Bluegreen, became the leading golf course operator in France. On the 48 golf courses managed by Bluegreen, a majority is operated in the form of public service delegation, on behalf of local communities. Bluegreen, number 1 in French golf, offers communities the possibility of inserting their courses into a network of national stature, whose quality of courses is recognized and with a real policy of access to the greatest number. Bluegreen aims to continuously improve its performance through a economically sound, socially responsible management focused on environmental performance. Golf courses are real green lungs. The mosaic of habitats and the varieties of vegetation found there contribute to the natural life of various species. In this perspective of preservation, the program Golf & Nature led by Bluegreen, aimed at eco-sustainable management of its sites, is structured around three priority environmental objectives:

  • 1. Golf courses: sustainable management of water resources
    Responsible water management practices aim to optimize its use, by limiting the volumes of water withdrawn to what is strictly necessary, by watering better and less, and by looking for alternatives to the use of drinking water - use of recycled water in particular.
  • 2. Golf courses: fertilizers and plant protection products
    Reasoned course maintenance practices have the dual objective of ensuring the quality of the game while preserving soils, aquatic environments and biodiversity. They translate into management measures that reduce the consumption of inputs - fertilizers and phytosanitary products - and promote the selection of natural products, thus limiting the impact on humans and the environment.
  • 3. Golf courses: biodiversity
    Bluegreen is continuing the actions already undertaken with the League for the Protection of Birds. The development of a best practice guide has also made it possible to support the implementation of this approach on Bluegreen golf courses.
