The route is the result of a long-term study of the conditions and characteristics of the terrain in order to preserve the natural beauty and ecological balance of the site. It seems to have always been there. The course will be a challenge for the golfer in terms of difficulty and length, but with its modern design and several teeing areas, this fabulous golfing experience remains accessible to golfers of all levels.

Architecture sculpted to preserve unspoiled nature

The new golf course has been designed to blend in perfectly with the natural environment and create one of the most beautiful golf experiences in Portugal. Nature is in abundance and from every hole there is a breathtaking view of the Atlantic Ocean and the Lagoon of Óbidos.

West Cliffs Golf Course was designed by world renowned golf course designer and architect Cynthia Dye of Dye Design

The golf course design process required a careful and long term study of the site conditions, features and restrictions. Pete Dye's team worked closely with local government planning and engineering departments as well as several relevant national ministries. The design has evolved through many comprehensive reviews and revisions to ensure minimal environmental disturbance and protection of areas of existing drainage basins, dinosaur fossils and heritage pine trees.

The beauty and challenge of this rare seaside links course grows with each passing hole and, although thrilling and spectacular, it is accessible to golfers of all skill levels.
