Druids Glen called the Augusta of Europe is a very beautiful parkland course, American style. It is very spectacular and still remarkably well maintained. Truly superb in spring or summer, very flowery. It has hosted the Irish Open on several occasions. It is part of a luxury resort which expanded with the opening of another 18 hole course in 2003 called Druids Heath, designed by the same architect Pat Ruddy who also created The European.
The DRUIDS GLEN Course

This famous course, designed by Pat Ruddy & Tom Craddock, opened in 1995. Just one year after its opening, Druids Glen has hosted the Irish Open for four consecutive years. Colin Montgomerie won it two years in a row, followed by David Carter and Sergio Garcia, with a score of 64 in the final round. Druids Glen hosted the prestigious Seve Trophy, a biannual event bringing together the main Tour champions of Great Britain and Ireland and Continental Europe.

According to Pat Ruddy, "Druids Heath offers the player the opportunity to set off in an invigorating place for body and soul, the ever-present sea breeze adding a lot to the sporting challenge, which is difficult to focus on because the eye wanders eagerly 80 km at sea, 30 km south over an unspoiled, undulating pastoral scene to Wicklow Head and inland into the Wicklow Mountains.
