The National Center of the Spanish Golf Federation, known in Spanish as Centro Nacional de la Real Federacion Española de Golf, is located 10 km from the center of Madrid. It is an 18-hole golf course accessible to golfers of all levels. Opened in 2005, the course has hosted prestigious European Tour events such as the Madrid Masters 2009, the Spanish Open 2007 and the Challenge of Spain 2006.
The golf course was designed by Dave Thomas, architect of Belfry, Abama and Terre Blanche, among others, by Jorge Soler-Peix and by the Green Project team.
The National Golf Center is a long, difficult course reminiscent of typical British links and is a serious test for all skill levels. The new family tee shirts help shorten the course, making it playable for beginners and seniors alike. Seve Ballesteros was instrumental in the creation of the National Golf Center, and said: "It has been 15 years, but the project is finally a reality for Spanish golf. It is above all a public golf course, and that fills me with satisfaction, because it is something that I have always fought throughout my life. With this project, we are all winners ".
The facility offers a new scenario to the world of the golf industry: a long and surprising course (6622 meters - 7244 yards) which gives the impression of playing on a links course due to its aesthetics and the light breeze. . The course is located on a small hill and has very few trees. At first glance, the course may seem easy, but once the wind starts to blow, the ponds and bunkers seem bigger than ever.
The National Center of the Royal Spanish Golf Federation has opted for a sustainable activity, with the greatest respect for the environment and water management. The practice facilities have been recently renovated and the center of excellence was built with the idea of pampering the best players in Spain.
