Mary Queen of Scots is said to have played golf at Musselburgh Links in 1567! And records show that it was also played in 1672. The old links in Musselburgh originally consisted of only 7 holes, then an eighth was created in 1838 and a ninth in 1870. It is a historic course almost as old as the Old Course, which hosted the British Open 6 times in its beginnings from 1874 to 1889. It is possible to hire old clubs, "hickory clubs", to make a jump. complete in time.
