The Golf Club d'Aro, located between Platja d'Aro and Santa Cristina d'Aro in Girona, was designed by Ramón Espinosa at the end of the 1980s. An 18-hole par 72 course of over 6 meters, the construction began in 200 and represented a great challenge for engineering. The hardness of the terrain forced the use of dynamite to model the streets, which added a lot of work to the ambitious project that had to be carried out. After such work, and to integrate the course into the natural environment, all kinds of trees were planted (cork oaks, pines, willows, cypresses ...) and two artificial lakes were built for the non-relocation of the native fauna.
On April 23, 1990, Club Golf d'Aro was inaugurated with the Open Martini PGA celebration and only two years later was it awarded the “Best European Golf Course” award. Since then it has been considered one of the best estates in Spain thanks to the attention given to maintenance and the service provided to the customer.
