Golf de Royat-Charade

The Golf des Volcans is located in Orcines in the heart of the Auvergne Volcanoes Regional Natural Park in France.
History
Created in 1984, the Volcanoes golf course only had 9 holes. Today it is 32! In addition to the 18 holes, whose small name is Les Bruyères, a compact 9 hole, the Pariou, was born in 1989, then another 9 holes, the Fougères, is currently emerging from the forest, little by little, since only five of the its holes are open. All under the imposing presence of the Puy de Dôme.
The history of Golf des Volcans actually began long before its creation. "In the 1970s, some members of the Charade golf course found themselves a little cramped at home ... and began to prospect in the region until they found the Orcines site", explains Roger Cruzin, former president of the Volcanoes and current president of the Auvergne League.
Course & setting
In summer, the setting is absolutely exceptional with this course which deploys greens and fairways between pines and countless birches whose silvery trunks sparkle from the first to the last hole, with the velvety sides of the Puy de Dôme colored in multiple shades as a backdrop. of green. The lights are fantastic and very changeable with the regular passage of large clouds. If we add the absolute tranquility of the place, we get a little golfing paradise.
Winners
The Volcanoes golf course hosted a Challenge Tour event for 16 years, the Open des Volcans, from 1992 to 2007. This tournament brought together many of the champions who are currently part of the European Tour. The German Martin Kaymer won there in 2006, the Belgian Nicolas Colsaerts took 2nd place in 2002.
