Deconfinement for Amateur golf on May 11, 2020

Opening Reopening of open Covid Golfs

The French Golf Federation has officially announced the resumption of amateur golf from Monday, May 11. The courses will reopen and golfers will be able to play in rounds of fours.

The resumption of the game, with up to four players per game, will be accompanied by a series of strict measures that will remain in force until June 1, starting with physical distancing of at least two meters and respect for barrier gestures.

Golfer in the red zone

If the practice of golf will be authorized regardless of the classification of the department (red / green) and within a radius of 100 km around the home, the mayors or prefects may delay or prohibit the opening of golf courses, even if this point is " unlikely " according to Christophe Muniesa, national technical director of French Golf Federation.

Wearing a mask in the closed and covered spaces of the club, including reception, may be required by golf courses. A pre-reservation will also be necessary in order to take a departure or a lesson. Even if the golfer wishes to come to train individually, he will have to announce his arrival upstream to the establishment.

Restaurants closed, proshops open

The changing rooms, lounge, bars and restaurants will remain closed, although take-out will be possible. The reception, the proshop and the caddymaster can be opened. The arrival of the player on the golf course must be made 30 minutes maximum before his departure / start of the lesson.

The flagstick must be left in the hole on the greens, and "The vast majority of golf courses are already equipped with a device allowing the ball to be recovered without touching the bogey" Christophe Muniesa advances. In addition, the rakes will be removed from the bunkers.

Finally, on the teaching side, individual and group lessons will be authorized, while respecting distancing and barrier gestures. Teachers can use protective visors. Golf schools will not resume immediately.
