US Open Golf - United States Championship

The United States Golf Championship, commonly referred to as the "US Open", is the annual national golf tournament of the United States. It is the third of golf's four major events, and is on the official program of the PGA Tour and the European Tour. Since 1898, the competition has been played over 72 holes in stroke play (4 rounds on an 18-hole course), the winner being the player with the lowest total number of strokes. It is hosted by the United States Golf Association (USGA) in mid-June, so if there is no weather delay, the final round is played on the third Sunday. The US Open takes place on different courses, laid out in such a way that the good scores are very difficult to achieve, with an emphasis on the precision of the drive. In 2022, the US Open offers a prize pool of $17,5 million, the largest of the four major championships.
